Capitol targets 125 college scholars for SY 2018-2019

ILOILO – The provincial government hopes to support the educational needs of 125 poor but deserving college students for school year 2018-2019.

It is now accepting applications.

The provincial government will be shouldering the tuition and miscellaneous fees of the scholars.

For school year 2018-2019, it plans to support 25 scholars in each of the five districts of the province.

It will also be increasing the each scholar’s allowance from P2,800 per semester P3,500.

Each scholar will also be receiving P2,000 book allowance and P1,000 clothing allowance per semester.

Applicants for the scholarship must meet the following qualifications:

* senior high school graduates belonging to the upper 10 percent of the graduating class

* with annual gross family income of not more than P150,000

* must be a bona fide resident of the province of Iloilo

* must enroll in any state university or college in the province of Iloilo

College courses covered by the scholarship program are Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, Cooperative Development, Education, Information Technology, Accounting, Management, and courses related to the Social Sciences.

Applicants must submit the following requirements:

* certification signed by the school principal that the applicant belongs to the upper 10 percent of the graduating class

* certification signed by the barangay captain that the applicant is a bona fide resident of the barangay and of good moral character

* photocopy of the applicant’s school identification card

* one 2×2 recent photo of the applicant

* certification signed by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer that the applicant belongs to a economically disadvantaged family

Applicants from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd districts may submit their applications and required documents to the Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO) at the third floor of the provincial capitol.

Those from the 4th District may submit the requirements to the office of the mayors of either Banate town or Passi City while those from the 5th District may do so at the office of the mayor of either Ajuy or Estancia municipalities./PN
