ROXAS City – Antidrug police operatives in Capiz arrested two suspected drug dealers in separate operations on Wednesday.
Ricky “Tabot” Cordovero was caught on McKinley Street, Barangay 1 in this city while Felix Dwayne Alejano was nabbed in Barangay Poblacion Tabuc, Mambusao town where he also lived.
Officers from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Capiz Police Provincial Office staged a buy-bust operation against the 49-year-old Cordovero at around 7 p.m.
Four sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia and the P1,000 marked money were seized from Cordovero.
Senior Inspector Hilbert Gervero, who led the PDEU operation, identified the suspect as a “drug surrenderer.”
“Cordovero previously turned himself in to the police as part of Oplan Tokhang but continued to sell illegal drugs,” Gervero told Panay News.
Oplan Tokhang involved officers urging suspected drug users and dealers to surrender, documenting them and warning them against engaging in the illicit trade.
The PDEU caught the 20-year-old Alejano in the other buy-bust operation past 5 p.m. on the same day.
Operatives seized from the suspect four sachets of suspected shabu, a cell phone and the P500 marked money.
Police tagged Alejano as a “newly identified street-level target” in their antidrug campaign.
Cordovero was detained at the Roxas City police station and Alejano, at the Mambusao police station.
Both face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
