ROXAS City – The crime volume in Capiz from January to August 2016 decreased by 28.34 percent compared to the same period last year, according to Senior Superintendent Samuel Nacion, officer-in-charge of the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO).
A total of 5,793 crimes were recorded provincewide in the last eight months of 2016 or 2,289 lesser than the 8,082 registered crimes from January to August 2015, CPPO records showed.
“The deployment and utilization of Pulis sa Barangay (PSB), with the assistance of our force multipliers and participation of the community, made this possible,” said Nacion during a meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) on Sept. 14.
A total of 447 policemen were deployed under the PSB initiative in 365 drug-affected barangays.
The province has a total of 473 barangays.
Nacion also reported an increase in crime solution efficiency by the CPPO as a result of the Police Regional Office-6’s continuing investigative capability enhancement of field investigators. (PIA-Capiz/PN)
