ROXAS City – While reeelctionist Cong. Emmanuel “Tawi” Billiones (Liberal Party) of Capiz’s 1st District was way ahead of his challengers to secure another term (81,632 votes in the Commission on Elections’ Transparency Server as of 10:30 p.m.), the 2nd District is poised to have a new representative in the Lower House – former congresswoman Jane Castro.
Castro, candidate of Lakas-NUCD, was way ahead (64,284 votes in the Comelec Transparency Server as of 10:30 p.m.) leading rivals Jun Labao (PDP-Laban), Bulilit Martinez (PROMDI), Maria Vilma Besana (Partido Federal ng Pilipinas) and Ronilo Esteves (Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan).
On the other hand, Billiones’ rivals were Dodoy Evan Contreras (PDP-Laban), Engineer Agana (People’s Reform Party) and Bros Diapo (PPM).
Castro, who served as congresswoman of the 2nd District from 2010 to 2013, is replacing her husband outgoing Cong. Fredenil Castro who looms to be proclaimed as the new provincial governor./PN
