CAPIZ – This province will have a new police director starting today, July 23.
Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) chief Colonel Julio Gustilo Jr. is retiring on July 27.
Gustilo will be replaced by Police Colonel Valdemer Llaneta from Camp Crame in Quezon City.
The turnover of command will be held this afternoon at 3 o’clock.
According to Gustilo, he will leave the CPPO with a happy heart and high hope that the programs he started will be continued by Llaneta.
One of these is the “Bahaynihan” or “Bahay at Kabuhayan Nila Handog Namin” inspired by the Philippine National Police (PNP) project Adopt-a-Family.
In the “Bahaynihan” program, the CPPO does not just give out food packs to the poorest of the poor. The goal is broad: provide shelter and livelihood to the homeless and poorest in areas much affected by the coronavirus pandemic and high crime incidence.
To date, 63 families across Capiz have benefitted from “Bahaynihan”.
With its positive impact on the lives of beneficiaries, “Bahaynihan” was dubbed a “best practice” program of the CPPO recognized by the PNP national headquarters and the Police Regional Office 6.
Gustilo hopes the program would be replicated throughout Western Visayas or even throughout the country./PN
