ROXAS City – Police confiscated firearms, ammunition and a grenade after raiding a house in Barangay Cabungahan, Maayon town.
Joint operatives of the Maayon Municipal Police Station, Capiz Police Provincial Office’s Intelligence Unit, Capiz Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit, and the 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company arrested alias “Nante”, 43, and recovered the following on Wednesday, March 5:
* caliber .38 revolver loaded with three ammunition
* 5.56 homemade single-shot handgun
* one piece ammunition of 12-gauge shotgun
* hand grenade.
The operation was carried out through the strength of search warrants for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
The suspect is now in police custody for proper disposition.
Police Regional Office 6 director, Brigadier General Jack Wanky lauded the operating units for the successful implementation of the search warrants.
“This accomplishment shows our committed effort in pursuing individuals who still opted to possess loose firearms despite our appeal to deposit those unlicensed and undocumented firearms to nearest police unit in their place of residence,” said Wanky./PN
