ROXAS City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) once again reminded candidates in the latest barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls to file their statement of contributions and expenditures (SOCE).
Capiz election supervisor Wil Arceño said all the candidates – win or lose – are required to file their SOCEs on or before June 13.
“We will not allow the winning candidates to assume office should they fail to file the SOCEs on the scheduled date,” Arceño warned.
He added that as of May 24, only few have filed their SOCEs at Comelec offices in the province, noting that only few had likewise secured the needed forms.
Arceño stressed that failure to file the SOCE can result in perpetual disqualification to hold public office.
“We fear that they will be catching up in the filing of the SOCEs on the last minutes of June 13,” he said. (With a report from PIA/PN)
