CAPIZ – The provincial government turned over to cacao farmers a post-harvest facility for the Capiz Chocolate Factory in Barangay Cogon, Panitan.

Panitan is dubbed the Chocolate Capital of Capiz.

The facility aims to help local farmers have more extensive operations in the cacao industry and ensure the quality of chocolates produced.

The post-harvest facility has a fermentation area, a drying area, and a warehouse.

Before the turnover, Gov. Fredenil H. Castro and the Capiz Cacao Industry Association (CCIA) inaugurated the facility.

CICA president Dr. Rose Marie N. Conlu thanked the provincial government for its support.

The inauguration and turnover were attended by the cacao farmers themselves and local government officials, including Panitan mayor Kit Belo, Board Member Celio Fecundo, Provincial Agriculturist Sylvia Dela Cruz, Provincial Engineer Nelva Adricula, Deputy Provincial Administrator Ricky Martin, Executive Assistant Rio Garcia, Department of Trade and Industry-Capiz provincial director Ken Queenie Cunada, and barangay officials, among others. (With reports from Capiz PGCG)/PN
