Capiz shifts to regular GCQ today

ROXAS City – Capiz province is shifting to regular general community quarantine (GCQ) beginning today until the end of October, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque told Panay News on Sunday.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) made the recommendation on Saturday and was approved by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Prior to the shift to regular GCQ, the IATF-EID placed Capiz under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions for the entire month.

Capiz has a total of 9,045 cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), 8,820 of which were tagged by the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 as β€œtotal local cases.”

From these total cases in the province, 784 were still active, while 7,991 recovered from the virus. On the other hand, 267 have passed away from it.

Capiz has been under GCQ with heightened restrictions since July 16 after being under modified general community quarantine for almost a year.

Meanwhile, there were no changes in the COVID-19 quarantine restrictions for the rest of Western Visayas until the end of the month, according to Roque.

Based on the latest data from Department of Health-Western Visayas, there were 37 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the region.

Just like Capiz, also under the regular GCQ were Iloilo City, Iloilo province, Negros Occidental, Guimaras, Aklan, and Antique.

Bacolod City was the lone area in the region to remain under the heightened GCQ./PN
