CAPIZ – The province of Capiz has gathered signatures for a proposed Charter change through a People’s Initiative.

According to Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Wil Arceño, they have received copies of the signatures from the four municipalities in the province, particularly in the second district.

Arceño said that so far, their office has received over 18,000 signatures, noting that this is more than enough to meet the requirement of 3 percent of the total voters in each district.

The municipalities from which the signatures were submitted are Dumarao (6,582 signatures on 685 pages), Dumalag (4,657 signatures on 486 pages), Sapian (2,140 signatures on 207 pages), and Sigma (4,270 signatures).

The provincial Commission on Elections (Comelec) office is currently waiting for more municipalities that may submit signature sheets.

Arceño also clarified that Comelec-Capiz has no involvement in the petition./PN
