Capiznons get agri planting materials, techno guide

OVER 500 farmers from Capiz became recipients of the assorted fruit tree seedlings, peanut, and assorted vegetable seeds and planting materials from the Department of Agriculture (DA) during the conduct of the Integrated Sustainable Assistance, Recovery and Advancement Program (ISARAP) caravan recently at the Twin Covered Gym in the Municipality of Dao.

To guide farmers in the proper propagation methods of the planting inputs provided, the agency also handed various educational materials, including flyers, booklets, and posters, to the attendees of the one-day caravan.

As a farmworker from Barangay Magtagnop whose crops were damaged by the recent Tropical Depression (TD) Agaton, Mary Joy Barrogo lined up for government interventions, particularly the planting materials to provide her family a sustainable source of income and food.

“Daku gid nga bulig sa amun ang ginpanghatag sang DA kay ang amun katamnan na ubos guid tanan anod. Amo na ga pursigi gd kami diri kapila,” she said.

As a part of the Duterte Legacy Caravan participated by various national government agencies, ISARAP aims to ensure and provide effective, integrated, and fiscally responsible aid and humanitarian support to the people in emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic, current economic crisis, and disaster.

The province of Capiz was put under the State of Calamity last April 19 following the Tropical Depression “Agaton” devastation, which resulted in flooding and damages to crops and properties.

DA-Western Visayas Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer for Capiz Carolina Cornelio said that the agency had already turned over five bags of certified rice seeds to initial farmer recipients in Dao. (DA-6/PN)
