CAPIZ – There is potential paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP), or toxic red tide, in the municipality of Pilar, based on reports received by the Capiz Provincial Health Office.
With this, the provincial government strongly advised the general public to temporarily refrain from gathering, harvesting, transporting, selling, and consuming shellfish.
The Provincial Agriculture Office has already taken samples of both shellfish meat and water, which will undergo testing to confirm the presence of toxins.
In an official statement, the Capiz provincial government said it closely monitors the situation and will provide updates as soon as verified information becomes available.
“We urge all Capiznons to remain vigilant about their health and well-being during this period,” the statement dated Aug. 22 read.
Those who have experienced any symptoms or manifestations associated with the situation are encouraged to promptly seek consultation from the local health facilities./PN
