Capiz’s COVID cases down to 20

ROXAS City – As of Jan. 3, cases of active coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Capiz were down to 20, data from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed.

These were 1.66 percent of Capiz’s 1,203 cumulative cases (recorded since March).

Sixteen of the active cases were asymptomatic or not showing symptoms.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough.

Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea.  These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell.

Capiz’s active cases were in six municipalities and the capital Roxas City:

* Dao and Sigma – two cases each

* Dumalag and Ivisan – one case each

* President Roxas – four cases

* Roxas City – 10 cases

Capiz has a total of 16 municipalities.

PHO data also showed that 93.52 percent – or 1,125 – of Capiz’s cumulative COVID-19 cases have recovered.

The death toll, on the other hand, reached 58 or 4.82 percent of the total cases.

People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.

These droplets also land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth./PN
