Capiz’s Tony del Rosario to run for guv anew

ROXAS City – Gov. Antonio “Tony” Del Rosario filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) as he seeks reelection next year.

Del Rosario is running with former Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) member James Magbañua as his vice gubernatorial mate.

They filed their COCs at the Commission on Elections provincial office in this capital city on Monday.

Del Rosario is the current chairman of the Liberal Party (LP) in Capiz while Magbañua is allied with the National Unity Party.

The del Rosario-Magbañua tandem was a result of the coalition of the two political groups.

Aside from del Rosario, Capiz 1st District representative Emmanuel Billones and incumbent SP members Enrique Martin and Jonathan Besa – all allied with LP – are also seeking reelection.

Steve Contreras, Wildy Apolinario, Walter Anisco, Karen Palomar, Eleuper Martinez, Victor Tanco Jr., Mateo Hachuela, and Elmer Arevalo are also running for SP member.

Meanwhile, Capiz 2nd District representative Fredenil Castro has yet to file his COC as of Monday.

When asked why, del Rosario said: “May kaugalingon man nga panimad-on si Congressman Castro sa iya nga pag-file.”

On the other hand, Provincial Legal Officer Ronnie Dadivas is running for mayor of Roxas City. He is running with Vice Mayor Erwin Sicad. They are both members of LP.

Under their line-up for city councilors are Albert Gregory Potato, Trina Marie Ignacio, Jon Sumcad, Corazon Tiangco, Cesar Yap Jr., Paul Ivan Baticados, Leny Albert Apaitan, Donnel San Antonio, John Paul Arcenas, and Jericho Celino./PN
