ACTRESS Carla Abellana admitted that she has regrets about getting married to her estranged husband, actor Tom Rodriguez, with whom she separated last year after just four months of marriage.
The pair tied the knot in a church in October 2021 after seven years together. They sparked breakup rumors the following February after hawk-eyed fans noticed that they briefly unfollowed each other on Instagram. At the time, the actress also removed photos of Tom from her Instagram page.
She would later confirm their separation in a lengthy statement on social media, saying she was “disrespected,” “lied to,” and “betrayed” during her marriage to Tom.
Meanwhile, the actor also came out with a statement confirming his divorce from Carla, stressing that “despite all my efforts, Carla had already given up on our marriage.”
Carla, who appeared in Bea’s latest vlog, was asked whether she regrets ever getting married to Tom.
Explaining her thoughts, she answered: “Lagi kong nire-ready ‘yung sarili ko sa question na ‘yan na wala pa namang nagtatanong, tapos hindi ko rin alam kung ano ‘yung isasagot ko.”
“Syempre gusto kong sabihing no, kasi kahit papano from… ‘yun bang paano tayo pinalaki, sa kultura natin dahil Catholic din ako na parang, ‘Hindi, no regrets dapat. Kasi part ‘to ng plan ni God,’ mga ganun-ganun,” she added.
“But then honestly, kung si Carla, tanggalin mo lahat ‘yun, yes, talagang nagsisisi ako,” said.
While she has no regrets about the way she handled their breakup, Carla said she wishes that things weren’t as public and scandalous as their divorce turned out to be.
“Yes… I mean, sino naman ang may gusto na maging public ang isang mahirap at sensitive, private matter, ‘di ba?” Carla stressed.
Meanwhile, the actress also admitted that she hasn’t seen Tom or spoken to him since their painful breakup last year.
“No. We never spoke. Plus not long after din kasi, umalis siya. He’s actually currently in the U.S. Since then ‘yun na ‘yung last time kaming nagkita,” Carla said, adding that she’s still open to talking to Tom someday, but “not anytime soon.”
“I wouldn’t say naman never. Plus we’re in the same industry.”
However, Carla gave a firm “no” when asked whether she is open to getting back with Tom again.
Opening up about how the past year changed her, Carla said she’s still in the process of healing and finding herself.
Currently, Carla remains single and focused on her family and acting career.
While she admitted that she has qualms about getting married again in the future, Carla said she is open and hoping that she would find love again someday. (PUSH)
