ILOILO – A municipal government employee in Carles town was arrested for selling illegal drugs.

The 43-year-old Jonathan Villanueva of Barangay Cauayan was a “high-value” drug target, police said.

Villanueva, an administrative aide at the municipal hall, sold a sachet of shabu to an undercover police officer for P200 around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday in Barangay Poblacion.

He yielded three more sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Villanueva was hauled to the Carles police station lockup cell.

Senior Inspector Klarenz Sia, Carles police chief, said their operatives have been in touch with Villanueva for over a month.
Sia said they conducted test buys three times to verify the municipal hall worker’s involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Villanueva allegedly supplies drugs in Carles and the neighboring towns, Sia said.

The suspect confessed that he sells drugs to get additional income, said Sia. “He also admitted he was a drug user.”/PN
