Cattle rustling suspects fall; Drugs, gun seized

BACOLOD City – Three cattle rustling suspects were arrested in Barangay Bunga, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental. Policemen spotted them pushing a cow into a van around 4 a.m. on Aug. 19.

The suspects were all residents of this city: Jerry Genelaso, 40; Clyde Ersida, 33; and Rollie Francisco, 23.

According to the policemen, they asked the men for their credentials and that of the cow, but they failed.

They frisked the men and a .38 pistol was recovered from Genelaso.

Ersida, on the other hand, yielded two plastic sachets of suspected shabu, according to the police.

The suspects were detained at the Don Salvador Benedicto police station.

All three would be charged with violation of Presidential Decree No. 533, or the Anti-Cattle Rustling Law.

Genelaso faces an additional charge of violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, while Ersida for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act./PN
