BACOLOD City – A 37-year-old man died playing “Russian roulette” with a .38 revolver in Barangay Poblacion, Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
Jeemo Redimo was a resident of the village’s Purok 5.
According to a witness, Redimo and Benjie Chavez were having a drinking session when the former pulled Chavez’s .38 late Sunday night, Dec. 4.
Redimo pointed the firearm to his head and pulled the trigger, killing him on the spot, police said.
Russian roulette is a potentially lethal game of chance in which a player places a single round in a revolver, spins the cylinder, places the muzzle against the head or body, and pulls the trigger. If the loaded chamber aligns with the barrel, the weapon will fire, killing or severely injuring the player.
Cauayan police investigation revealed that Chavez took his gun and attempted to hide it in a nearby drainage.
Police, however, soon arrived, and Chavez would later yield the firearm to the authorities.
Chavez is currently in the custody of the Cauayan Municipal Police Station and would be subjected to a paraffin examination./PN
