BACOLOD City – Officers from the Binalbagan police station were able to identify the two suspects in killing a woman whose body was found at the public plaza in Barangay Payao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.

The 55-year-old Rosemarie Fernandez was found lifeless behind a kiosk around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, a police report showed.

Fernandez died of severe head injuries, the report further stated.

Senior Inspector Albert Sy, officer-in-charge of the Binalbagan police station, identified the suspects as 19-year-old Jerick Cainap and 24-year-old Raymond Gaje, both residents of Barangay Payao.

A close circuit television (CCTV) camera footage in the village showed that Cainap and Gaje used a hard object they got from a nearby road to hit Fernandez on the head.

Village watchmen helped the police identify the suspects in the CCTV footage.

Police arrested Cainap and Gaje, who both admitted to the crime. They said they were drunk when the incident happened.

Cainap and Gaje were detained at the Binalbagan police station lockup facility./PN
