ILOILO City – A closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera of an establishment on Commission Civil Street, Jaro district may help solve the murder of an Indian money lender.
It had a video recording of the fleeing killer who boarded the motorcycle of a waiting companion, said Senior Superintendent Remus Zacharias Canieso, city police director.
The 34-year-old Rupinder Kaur Chahal of L.J. Ledesma Subdivision, Barangay Buhang, Jaro was shot four times at a car audio and accessories shop in Barangay Our Lady of Fatima, Jaro on Dec. 20.
According to Canieso, the security camera captured the assassin’s face and, although blurry, matched with the description given the car shop staff who witnessed the killing.
The video recording will be enhanced to get a clearer face of the killer, said Canieso. He expressed confidence that the murder would be solved.
“May roong kuha na nakatingin ang triggerman sa camera at na-capture ang image nya kasi he was not wearing a helmet,” he added.
The killer was wearing a cap not enough to conceal his facial features. The motorcycle driver, on the other hand, had a helmet.
Investigators were pursuing two angles in the crime.
“Baka rivalry sa money lending business or baka may naka-away na client,” said Canieso.
On the other hand, Chief Inspector Herbert Ballego, Jaro police chief, said the killer and his companion may likely be hired assassins.
The investigator of the Jaro police station, Police Officer 2 Saturnino Dela Cruz, believed the gunman was a professional killer.
“Ginsulod niya gid kag gintiro. Tapos naggwa siya nga daw wala lang natabo,” he said.
After the shooting, the assassin casually walked out of the car shop toward his motorcycle-driving companion waiting nearby./PN
