BACOLOD City – The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) will inspect swimming pools and beach resorts in the city this summer.
CDRRMO officer-in-charge Dondon Parandas said they will conduct an inspection in cooperation with the Permits and Licensing Division.
“We want to know if these establishments are compliant to the City Ordinance (CO) 749, particularly this summer season,” said Parandas.
Parandas noted the CO 749 requires pool and resort establishment owners to provide certified lifeguards and lifeguard equipment for their operation.
Parandas said they want to know if the 50 lifeguards from the different resorts they previously trained are still active and functional.
He added the ordinance was created to prevent swimming accidents, ensure the safety of resort and pool goers and preserve the state of readiness of the swimming or bathing area, particularly in times of emergencies.
“The provision of lifeguards and lifeguard equipment by pool and resort owners are indispensible,” Parandas stressed.
The non-compliant establishment owners will be facing a 10 days imprisonment or will be sanctioned a monetary fine worth P2,000 for first offense. For the second offense, the violator will be facing 15 days of imprisonment or a fine worth P3,000. An imprisonment of 16 to 30 days or a P5,000 fine for the third offense./PN
