Cebu Pacific sets new single day passenger record

CEBU Pacific said Monday it set a new record for flying the most number of passenger in a single day during the recent Christmas holidays.

The country’s largest airline said it flew 68,284 last Dec. 21, breaking the previous record of 65,289 on May 7 also last year. The tally includes domestic and international flights of both Cebu Pacific and CebGo.

From Dec. 16 to Jan. 7, Cebu Pacific flew 1.391 million passengers, a 7.4-percent jump from the same period in the previous year.

Cebu Pacific operates flights out of 7 hubs in the Philippines to 37 domestic and 26 international destinations.

“We are pleased to have enabled hundreds of thousands of passengers to make memories and moments during the yuletide season,” said Cebu Pacific chief operating officer Michael Ivan Shau.

“As passenger traffic continues to grow, we are committed to improving our service to make flying with Cebu Pacific more pleasant, safer and more efficient,” he added.

The country’s largest carrier said it also recently took delivery of its first 236-seater A321neo aircraft. Cebu Pacific’s fleet of 71 aircraft includes 36 Airbus A320, 7 Airbus A321CEO, 8 Airbus A330, 8 ATR 72-500 and 12 ATR 72-600. (ABS-CBN News)
