Cebu’s 7’s Kampeon Cup football postponed

ILOILO City – The 7’s Football League Philam Vitality Kampeon Cup, a nationwide 7-aside football tournament that will be joined by teams from Iloilo City and Bacolod City, was postponed due to the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 COVID-19.

7’s Football League founder and former Philippine Azkals player Anton del Rosario announced that the three-day football competition taking place at the Dynamic Herb-Borromeo Sports Complex in Talisay City, Cebu, will be pushed to later dates.

“Due to unfortunate circumstances surrounding the wide-spread of the COVID-19 in the country, the 7s Football League is announcing the rescheduling of Kampeon Cup to a later date,” Del Rosario said.

“The safety of our players, team staff and officials and fans is always paramount. It is our responsibility to see to it that the well-being of everyone involved in the league is considered,” he added.

Del Rosario added that the league will monitor the situation on a daily basis and will issue another statement if ever new dates for the said competition has been set.

Representing Iloilo City will be the coach Roderick Suñer-mentored Iloilo Ilustrados, a combination of booters from Western Institute of Technology and the Central Philippine University. The players are Barotac Nuevo town’s Jed and Jan Delariarte, Santa Barbara town’s Celso Orquina Jr., John Robert Solen, Joane Francis Sumaylo, Karl Lester Alemane, Cabatuan town’s Kristian Paolo Andarza, Mariell Montaño, Shaun Aguero, La Paz district’s Lex Mar Nallas, with Fritz Montilla and Paul Serdeña.

The Bacolod Monte Dons, on the other hand, will be Kyle Bayabos, Charles Dabao, Ilemona Usman, Lean Perez, Kent Guevarra, Leoh John Gumban, Ashli Marc Pamilar, Joshua Broce, Rolevan Valderrama, Harl Barbon, Okuda Rei and Yamamoto Yushi./PN
