BACOLOD City – Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) consumers are expected to pay higher electricity bills for this month.
Ceneco is imposing a per-kilowatt-hour (kWh) rate increase of P0.2427 for the billing month of November.
This sets the per-kWh rate for November at P11.8761 – up from last month’s P11.6334 – said General Manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr.
Much of the per-kWh rate covers pass-through charges, Lagarde said.
Such charges include Generation and Transmission charges, Energy Regulatory Commission-approved adjustments, government subsidies, and taxes, he explained.
These eat up 90.01 percent of the rate (P10.6895), said the Ceneco official.
Any movement in the per-kWh rate depends on adjustments in these charges, he said.
Meanwhile the remaining 9.99 percent (P1.1866) is for Distribution, Supply and Metering (DSM) and Reinvestment Fund for Sustainable Capital expenditure (RFSC) for the cooperative’s administrative and operational services.
Lagarde claimed the rate for DSM and RFSC has not increased since 2010.
Ceneco advised consumers to conserve energy to avoid paying high electricity bills./PN
