BACOLOD City – The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) will cut its power rates in November by P0.30 per kilo-watt hour (kWh).
This means electricity cost would go down to P9.4019 per kWh from P9.7008 per kWh last month.
Ceneco officer-in-charge Lolita Jayme attributed the decline in power rates to the lower generation charge; transmission and system loss charges; subsidies; and value added tax.
Jayme said the pass-through charges of the total power rate include the generation and transmission charges, Energy Regulatory Commission-approved adjustments, government subsidies, and taxes.
She added that only P1.1866 per kWh of the power rates goes to Ceneco through distribution, supply, metering charges and reinvestment fund for sustainable capital expenditure, needed for its administrative and operational services.
She advised members-consumers to always look into the kWh consumption and no to the amount when monitoring their monthly electricity usage.
“The amount may vary depending on the pass-through charges,” Jayme noted.
Despite the decrease for this month’s billing, the power firm still reminded its electricity consumers to conserve energy to avoid paying high electricity bills./PN
