BACOLOD City – A lineman of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) got electrocuted in Barangay 15, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
The victim, 25-year-old Regie Austria, was a resident of E.B. Magalona town.
According to Ceneco acting general manager Danny Pondevilla, Austria was getting off from duty around midnight on Feb. 7 when a power interruption in the village’s Hacienda Sta. Maria occurred.
Austria responded to the area. While fixing the broken insulator in the transmission line, he accidentally touched an illegally connected live wire, said Pondevilla.
Austria was rushed to a hospital here but was declared “dead on arrival.”
Ceneco promised financial aid to the family of the victim.
Pontevilla urged member-consumers of Ceneco to refrain from illegal tapping electricity to avoid this kind of incident in the future./PN
