BACOLOD City – The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) may reschedule the Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA) after the National Electrification Administration (NEA) issued Memorandum No. 2018-009.
The memorandum was in relation to the conduct of the synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on May 14.
NEA administrator Edgardo Masongsong said electric cooperatives “may defer [the AGMA] should the board of directors in its discretion, find that the conduct thereof may affect or maybe affected by political activities ensuing then.”
Conducting the AGMA is in compliance with the electric cooperatives’ by-laws.
Ceneco has earlier scheduled the AGMA on April 28.
According to Ceneco president Roy Cordova, the Board of Directors will meet today to decide whether or not to reset the annual assembly’s date.
NEA has advised electric cooperatives that if their AGMAs were set in May, they must move it in June./PN
