Ceneco: No disconnection for low energy users

BACOLOD City – Low-usage power consumers can now heave a sigh of relief. The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) is extending the “no disconnection” policy until the end of the year.

Maria Agnes Claro, Ceneco officer-in-charge, said they will not implement any disconnection on account of non-payment of bills until Dec. 31 for consumers with monthly consumption of 160 kilowatt-hour (kWh) or less.

This move is in compliance with the latest advisory of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), said Claro.

“This is twice the ERC-approved lifeline consumption level of 80 kWh per month for Ceneco consumers,” Claro explained.

She also clarified that the no power disconnection policy covers the billing period from Sept. 14 during the implementation of the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2).

Ceneco will also grant its consumers a 30-day grace period for the September billing during the modified enhance community quarantine (MECQ).

“But this is applicable only for member-consumer-owners in this city where the MECQ was implemented,” Claro said.

Any unpaid balance after the lapse of the 30-day grace period shall be paid in three equal monthly installments without incurring interests, penalties and other charges, she added./PN
