BACOLOD City – There will be a less-than-a-peso decrease in the power rate of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) this May.
From P11.902 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in April, the rate will now be P11.1830 per kWh, or 0.7190 centavos lower, according to Ceneco.
Sulpicio Lagarde Jr., the electric cooperative’s general manager, said member-consumers who use 100 kWh monthly will save P71.9, or P143.8 for 200 kWh monthly users.
The rate reduction is mainly because of the decrease in the generation charges, from last month’s average of P6.9365 per kWh to this month’s P6.5937 per kWh.
The other factor is the decrease in the transmission charges, from last month’s average of P0.5865 per kWh to this month’s P0.5307 per kWh, Lagarde added.
There is also a P0.1435 per kWh one-time refund this month, which is provided for under Energy Regulation Commission Order 2009-028 RC.
The refund will be reduced from the Universal Charge for Missionary Electrification rate.
There are also tax reductions in various charges, including the system loss charges, among others.
Despite the decrease, Lagarde advised member-consumers to save electricity to avoid paying high power bills.
