CENTERPHIL Montessori Silver Knights hopes to continue its winning run when it participates in the 2017 Iloilo Schools Sports Council (ISSC) Meet from Dec. 6 to 9 at the Iloilo Sports Complex.

CenterPhil owner Mark Plagata Palabrica said he is confident their basketball players will be able to keep in step with other schools, especially the ILOPRISAA representative Hua Siong College of Iloilo.

Silver Knights earned the slot in the ISSC Meet after capturing the Iloilo 3rd Congressional District Sports Association (CDSA) Meet championship last month at the expense of Lambunao.

ā€œWith our preparation, we are confident that we have a chance in this tournament,ā€ Palabrica told Panay News. ā€œAll teams here are tough but I believe if our players will play with cohesion, we can get the result that we wanted.ā€

In preparation for the tournament, Silver Knights played in tune-up matches, including one against Central Philippine University Golden Lions, the 2017 ISSA 1st runner-up in tertiary basketball. CenterPhil lost 81-95.

ā€œThat defeat was a learning experience for this team. We were up by as much as 22 points in the first half but unable to keep our lead,ā€ said Silver Knights head coach Andee Ticson.

But ā€œit was good the problem came out so we can do something to prevent similar incidents from happening in the actual (ISSC) game,ā€ the coach added.

CenterPhil squad members are Charles Sindol, Ronald Silorio, Mark Cleofas, Jedrick Tigres, Patrick John Gain, Wilmar Silverio, Lester Valn Paraico, Jhan Rei Congreso, Jayson Sugatan, Ian Carl Gasacao, and Rodney Paparon./PN
