CENTERPHIL Montessori added another championship to its cap after ruling the Province of Iloilo Interschool Sports Competition secondary boys’ basketball at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
CenterPhil dominated Alimodian National Comprehensive High School – the 2nd CDSA champion – 76-50 in the final round Saturday night.
Jose Rey Tuya and Lester Valn Paraico led the scoring for CenterPhil with 22 and 16 points, respectively. Jay Loquiano and Adrian Germinal also contributed 17 markers.
As a bonus for capturing the championship, CenterPhil has qualified to the 2nd Governor’s Cup Regional Basketball from Dec. 15 to 18.
Mentored by Andee Ticson, the Silver Knights managed to reach the final leg of the tournament after ruling the Zone 3 qualification round last week at the Pototan Astrodome in Pototan, Iloilo.
In the semifinal round Saturday morning, CenterPhil defeated Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School while Alimodian ousted Assumption-Passi.
This was the third straight title for the CenterPhil basketball team after previously capturing the Zone 3 qualifiers crown and its eighth consecutive title in the 3rd Congressional District Sports Association Meet./PN
