CENTERPHIL Montessori Silver Knights captured the Iloilo 3rd Congressional District Sports Association Meet 2018 basketball title as it swept all its games at the West Visayas State University – Janiuay Campus.
CenterPhil annexed its ninth consecutive men’s basketball victory after a 113-48 domination of Saint Julian Academy in the final round on Friday afternoon.
Lester Valn Paraico top-scored with 22 points, John Rey Tuya added 20 markers, while Kenneth Napud contributed 18 points for the Silver Knights.
Prior to the finals, the Silver Knights scored lopsided wins in elimination round games against the SJA (106-73) on Thursday and the Janiuay National Comprehensive High School (123-57) on Friday morning.
Aside from indoor basketball, the Silver Knights captured their second straight title in 3-on-3 basketball behind John Carlo Gulmatico, Jay Locquiano, Dhann Carl Peregrino, and Paul Justin Razalan.
Having the youngest team in 3-on-3, the Silver Knights opened their campaign with a 21-9 victory over SJA before cruising to a 10-8 escape over JNCHS in the final round.
Aside from basketball, the Silver Knights also captured gold in chess courtesy of John Miller Brillo and Julcyn Pragale, and in boys and girls table tennis.
Champion teams in the CDSA Meet will represent the 3rd CDSA at the 2018 Iloilo Schools Sports Council Meet scheduled in November in Janiuay./PN
