Ceres bus falls on its side; 29 injured

ILOILO City – A passenger bus fell on its side while navigating the road in Barangay Qui-anan, San Joaquin, Iloilo.

Municipal police station chief Captain Robert Jayson Pancha said at least 29 passengers sustained injuries and the body.

According to Pancha, some of the victims were identified as Juvy Nietes; Ma. Herma Sevilleno; Rose Sevilleno; Rica Sevilleno; John Vincent Jaruda; Shel Bolante; Maricon Sevilleno; Serafin Lazamot; Jodelyn Mar Jimena; Marty Imbido; Joeven Osorio and Vince Osorio. They all received medical treatment, he said.

The accident happened around 10 a.m. on Friday. The Ceres bus owned by Vallacar Transit, Inc. was bound for Iloilo City from Antique province.

Bus driver Vicente Fandagani, 44, of Barangay Escalantera, San Joaquin lost control of the bus while negotiating a steep portion of the highway in Barangay Qui-anan.

Fandagani was placed under the custody of the San Joaquin police station while investigation was ongoing./PN
