BACOLOD City — Ceres–La Salle Football Club has beaten Tatung company of Chinese Taipei, 2-0, improving its chances to reach the finals, in the AFC President’s Cup Group B Qualifiers at the Panaad Park and Sports Stadium here.

A free kick by Carli de Murga at the 17th minute was taken in and completed by Patrick Reichelt in the ensuing play and stand at the score of both teams.

Reichelt admitted that after playing defensive against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the team changed course of approach to beat Taipei.

All players contributed to Wednesday evening’s win, he stressed.

Ceres–La Salle’s second goal was a header from Juani Guirado in the 87th minute.

The match between HTTU of Turkmenistan and Rimyonmgsu of North Korea ended in 1-all draw.

Ceres–La Salle had four points, same with HTTU, but scored more goals against the latter after a 2-all draw against Rimyongsu Tuesday.

A draw against Turkmenistan in the first match today will allow Ceres–La Salle to advance even as North Korea is expected to win against Taipei in the second match.

Ceres–La Salle was expecting to score at least three goals against Taipei Wednesday night for a more stable lead in the number of goals made.

Suleyman Muhadov scored for Turkmenistan in the 80th minute but North Korea equalized a minute later on a goal from Ri Hyok-Chol for the 1-all draw.

It was Muhadov’s third goal in the tournament after scoring all two goals of HTTU against Taipei on Tuesday./PN
