MANILA – Ceres-Negros Football Club hopes to end its string of defeats when it plays host to Kaya Football Club-Makati in the 2017 Philippine Football League tonight at Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
Game time is at 7 p.m.
The Negros Occidental-based squad aims to get back on the winning track after defeats to JP Voltes Football Club and to Hougang United in RHB Singapore Cup earlier this week.
It will also be the second time this season that Ceres-Negros and Kaya will face each other following their May 6 match at the University of Makati which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Ceres-Negros head coach Risto Vidakovic said his team is determined to bounce back following a stunning 2-1 loss to JP Voltes in a match marred by missed calls from the game officials.
“I don’t want to look for an excuse. We played with the players we have so I think they deserve the win,” Vidakovic said. “We will just do our best to get back on the winning track against Kaya.”
Leading the way for Ceres-Negros are Philippine Azkals’ Simone Rota, Jose Elmer Porteria, Jason De Jong, Ronald Muller, Iain Ramsay, Stephan Schrock, Fil-Iranian Omid Nazari, Spanish Fernando Rodriguez, and Japanese Kota Kawase.
Kaya, meanwhile, will have three homecoming players in the match in Jalsor and Janrick Soriano, who are from Talisay City, and Jayson Panhay, who traced his roots in San Carlos City.
Ceres-Negros is currently at fifth place in the standings with four points on one win, one draw and a loss, while Kaya is at fourth place with nine points on three wins, two draws and a loss./PN
