MANILA – Centro Escolar University Scorpions made a short work of CD14 Designs-Trinity University of Asia White Stallions, 93-69, in the 2019 PBA D-League on Monday at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Senegalese big man Maodo Malick Diouf pumped 27 points, 18 rebounds, and four blocks, while Jan Formento added 17 markers for the Scorpions, which cruised to 5-0 win-loss slate.
Diouf spearheaded the Scorpions’ hot start with inside conversions as they grabbed an early 31-15 first quarter lead that extended to 28, 45-17, midway through the second period.
But it wasn’t all him as the local crew led by Formento, Pierce Chan and Judel Fuentes also had their share to help the Scorpions grab a lead as high as 30, 90-60 in the fourth frame.
“I was worried about my team because (CD14 Designs-Trinity was) winless and my team might just take them for granted,” Scorpions head coach Frederick Pumaren said. “I told them if they’re gonna get their first win, they have to get it on the other teams.”
John Tayongtong and Gab Reyes paced the winless White Stallions with 11 points each as they fell to a 0-5 record.
Meanwhile, McDavid barged into the win-column after five games as it take down Family Mart-Enderun, 73-68. Michole Solera finished with 22 points and four rebounds for McDavid./PN
