Championship over individual award for June Mar

SAN MIGUEL Beermen’s June Mar Fajardo will be adding another trophy to his personal collection after being named the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Best Player of the Conference.
The Pinamungajan, Cebu native Fajardo, who has garnered 39.12 statistical points (SPs) at the end of the semifinals round, captured his seventh BPC award, the most by any PBA player — active or retired.

The victory of Fajardo, which will be his second this season after also taking home the BPC award in the Philippine Cup, also moves him closer to snagging his fifth straight MVP at the end of the season.
Fajardo, however, refused to be distracted by the individual citations saying his focus is helping Beermen beat Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings in the ongoing PBA finals.

“Goal namin ‘yung championship,” Fajardo said. “Kung ano ‘yung maipapanalo ko (na individual award), ike-credit ko ‘yun sa mga teammates ko, at lalo na sa mga coaching staff.”

“Hindi pa nga rin namin sigurado ang championship dahil malakas din ang Ginebra, tinambakan nga kami noong Game 1,” he added. “Hindi pa namin afford mag-relax para next game dapat same intensity pa rin.”

As of this writing, the Beermen are two wins away from successfully retaining their Commissioner’s Cup crown pending the outcome of Game 4 of the finale, which is being played last night.
