MANILA – Travelers should check in for their flights online before they head to airports, Cebu Pacific and AirAsia said, with heavy passenger traffic expected as the year closes.

Cebu Pacific, the country’s largest carrier, said passengers could avail of online check-in 7 days up to 1 hour before departure for domestic flights. AirAsia said it was offering online check-in as early as 14 days before departure.

“We are anticipating heavy passenger volume over the next few days. Checking in for flights online will save passengers from waiting in line at our airport check-in counters and self check-in kiosks,” Cebu Pacific said in an advisory on its Facebook page.

Once checked in online, passengers can go straight to bag drop counters or boarding gates if they have no check-in baggage, Cebu Pacific said.

Another long weekend looms after the Christmas holidays, with Dec. 31, Monday, earlier declared a special non-working day. (ABS-CBN News)
