ILOILO City – At a police checkpoint in Barangay Infante, Molo district, sachets of suspected shabu were seized from two men riding in tandem on a motorcycle.
They were actually stopped by policemen at around 1:46 a.m. on Friday for not wearing helmets. The discovery of the sachets was accidental.
The suspects were Leomer Juarez, 35, of Bo. Obrero, Lapuz district and Tommy Basilao, 28, of Barangay Tanza Esperanza, City Proper. They were taken to the Molo police station.
Juarez was driving the motorcycle. He was asked to present his drivers’ license and this was when two plastic sachets accidentally fell on the ground, alerting policemen.
Basilao was subsequently frisked, too.
Cops recovered a total of 14 sachets.
The two men would be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
