CHEF JP Anglo, who hails from Bacolod City, gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at preparing a boodle fight for Filipino-American singer Olivia Rodrigo during her visit to Manila for her Guts concert last October.
“We Filipinos can’t help being proud of the success of other Filipinos, whether they were born in the motherland or not. Likewise, we are always proud to share our food whether it’s sisig, inasal or bagnet,” the chef posted on his Instagram page.
He went on: “What better way then to celebrate the talent and accomplishment of our fellow Filipino, @oliviarodrigo, than with a good old boodle fight. Here’s to you Olivia, and all things Pinoy.”
JP prepared the boodle fight for Olivia at his Sarsa restaurant.
In the video, JP can be seen preparing a variety of Filipino dishes on banana leaves for a boodle fight, while Olivia excitedly exclaims, “My POV! Look at all this good stuff! Welcome to Manila!”
Olivia staged the Philippine leg of her Guts tour at the Philippine Arena on October 5.
“I’m half Filipino. My dad’s side of family is Filipino. Always been on my bucket list, I’ve always wanted to come here for as long as I can remember and it’s gonna be really fun and I’m just so happy to be here. It feels really awesome. Actually, it’s a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to come,” she said in her recent vlog about her Philippine trip.
Aside from dining at Sarsa, Olivia, along with her dad, explored Intramuros before her concert.
The singer also visited the Manila headquarters of Jhpiego foundation, where she donated the net proceeds of her Guts concert in the Philippines.
“Seeing the Philippines was absolutely incredible. I feel like it was a big thing that I’ve always wanted to do so I got to check that off my bucket list today. It was an amazing day of exploring and meeting people, and it’s great,” she remarked. (ABS-CBN News)
