BACOLOD City – Chess national arbiter Kim Dumdum succumbed to cardiac arrest at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center in Brgy. Taculing here.

Dumdum, 65, was a native of Toboso, Negros Occidental but settled in Brgy. Taculing. He was a hands-down choice in organizing tournaments in the local chess circuit like the provincial meet and the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association, and national competitions such as the University Games and National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA).

Dumdum’s last stint was in the National PRISAA held in Tagum City, Davao del Norte just this April. He was already not feeling well that time.

He was hospitalized on April 19.

“Dumdum was a great loss to sports,” said Roger Banzuela, University Games president and Western Visayas PRISAA technical director.

Anthony Carlo Agustin, West Negros University sports director, also expressed sadness.

Dumdum had served as sports consultant at West Negros University.
