ILOILO – A chief barangay “tanod” was arrested for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (Republic Act 10591),
Jose Jigger M. Almirante, 52, was served with a warrant around 7:45 a.m. on Monday, March 13, in Barangay Tigbauan Road, Cabatuan, Iloilo.
“May mga reports nga si Almirante nagahupot sang armas kag daw ka isog sa ila lugar. May record man ini nga may gin-threat siya using a handgun,” said Cabatuan Municipal Police Station (MPS) chief Police Major Myles Dieron.
The search warrant was issued by Hon. Gemalyn Faunillo-Tarol, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court-Branch 76 of Janiuay, Iloilo on March 9.
Three live ammunition were recovered, but the 12-gauge shotgun was no longer in Almerante’s possession.
“Ang armas nga gin apply-an namon for search warrant wala namon makita kay according sa iya ginpalikaw niya na. Pero may mga ammunition pa siya nga scattered didto sa balay nila nga wala niya maubos panghimus, amo ni ang nakuha namon nga compatible sa 12-guage shotgun,” added Dieros./PN
