BACOLOD City – Twenty Chinese investors arrived yesterday to explore possible business ventures in the city and Negros Occidental.
The businessmen expressed interest in tourism development projects, like the proposed Sum-ag river project, the organic farm in Alangilan, and the economic zones in Bacolod, said City Development Council vice chairman George Zulueta.
The city plans to initiate a sister-city relationship with the group whose members are from the Overseas Chinese Trade and Investment Mission and the Philippine-Chinese Chao Shan Youth Chamber.
Zulueta, also a member of the Bacolod Investment Board, said the city also considers an exchange of trade delegates with China.
Department of Interior and Local Government undersecretary Jesus Hinlo Jr. said the visit was a result of the Provincial Tourism Summit in this city on May 14.
Kevin Lim, president of the Philippine-Chinese Chao Shan Youth Chamber of Commerce, attended the summit.
Lim had brought delegations of potential investors to Negros Occidental, Hinlo said.
“We hope our visit will promote further cooperation between the Philippines and China,” Lim said./PN
