ROXAS City – Around P1 million worth of alleged counterfeit cigarettes were confiscated from a Chinese national during a raid.

Suspect Li Qing Zong was arrested in an apartment in Caprichu 1, Barangay 5, Roxas City.

A total of 102 boxes of assorted brands of fake cigarettes were recovered.

The search warrant was served by the Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), Capiz Police Provincial Office, and Roxas City Police.

The suspect was placed under surveillance for two months prior to the raid.

Laboratory tests and tobacco companies confirmed that the cigarettes seized from Li were counterfeit.
