CHO reaps awards for public health initiatives

ILOILO City – The city government, through its City Health Office (CHO), was recognized for its significant contributions to advancing public health during the Regional Awarding of Partners and Stakeholders by the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6. 

The awards, presented on Nov. 7, 2024, at Punta Villa Resort in Arevalo, Iloilo City, acknowledged the city’s outstanding efforts in various public health initiatives, reinforcing its commitment to improving the well-being of its residents.

The citations awarded were as follows:

* “CESU-Iloilo City – For having a fully functional Epidemiology and Surveillance and Health Statistics Unit”

* “Iloilo City Health Office – For its unwavering support in providing Safe Blood for All and achieving at least a 1% Blood Donation Rate as part of the National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP)”

* “Iloilo City Health Office – For achieving the Highest Fully Immunized Child (FIC) coverage in 2023”

* “City Health Promotion Unit – For successfully implementing activities under Priority Area 7 (Violence and Injury Prevention Program)”

* “Iloilo City – For being the Top-Performing LGU in the Tuberculosis Treatment Coverage Rate in 2023”

* “Successful Implementation of the Drowning Prevention Project Phase II”

* “For unwavering support and commitment to DOH-WV CHD Programs”

* “For achieving a 2.59% stunting rate based on the E-OPT Plus Report 2023”

* “Barangay Lanit, Jaro – For its implementation of the Population, Health, and Environment (PHE) Project”

Mayor Jerry Treñas said the latest recognition highlights Iloilo City’s dedication to improving the health and well-being of its residents through various successful public health initiatives. 

He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the CHO for its well-deserved recognition at the DOH-6 Regional Awarding of Partners and Stakeholders, acknowledging the team’s tireless efforts in advancing public health in the city.

“The honors given to our fully functional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit, Safe Blood advocacy, Highest Fully Immunized Child coverage, TB treatment coverage, and other initiatives are a testament to the CHO’s genuine dedication to public health and service to every Ilonggo,” said Treñas.

The mayor added that these achievements are a proud reflection of the loyalty, hard work, and commitment demonstrated by the entire CHO team. 

He acknowledged their collective effort in ensuring the success of Iloilo City’s public health programs, which have significantly contributed to the well-being of the community.

“Under my administration, each department in Iloilo City Hall has strived for excellence, as evidenced by the city’s ongoing series of awards,” said Treñas.

The mayor further emphasized, “These milestones, driven by the commitment and hard work of our dedicated public servants, show that we are unified in our goal to promote excellence, growth, and the welfare of our people.” 

He reiterated that the recognition not only honors the efforts of the City Health Office but also reflects the collective dedication of all who contribute to the city’s ongoing progress in public health and service to the community.

“For the remainder of my term as your Mayor, may you all continue to serve with unwavering dedication to every Ilonggo family. Padayon lang kita sa pag-USWAG,” he added./PN
