ILOILO City – The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is running after more persons with pending arrest warrants across Western Visayas.
“Malapit na election, baka gagamitin ang mga ito ng pulitiko as goons so hanggang maaga pa we have to arrest them,” said Police Colonel Gervacio Balmaceda, chief of CIDG Region 6.
They deployed more personnel to carry out the operations.
“May mga targets na kami na may mga warrants,” Balmaceda said.
Between January and November, 83 wanted persons were arrested in 86 operations, data from CIDG-6 showed. Seven of them belonged to the top 10.
In their “Oplan Paglalansag” or campaign against loose firearms, two persons were caught, resulting in the confiscation of two high-powered firearms and 23 ammunition.
According to Balmaceda, CIDG-6 is coordinating with the Police Regional Office 6 in their operations, particularly in monitoring criminal gangs in the region./PN
