These included surrendered firearms with expired licenses, seized during operations and turned over for safekeeping, data (between August and September) from CIDG-6 showed.
Sixty-six persons were caught with unlicensed firearms, or with pending warrants of arrest.
Seven explosives and 415 ammunitions were also recovered.
“Expect more operations against firearms and wanted persons,” said Police Colonel Gervacio Balmaceda Jr., CIDG-6 chief.
According to Balmaceda, CIDG’s operations were under “Oplan Paglalansag Omega” of the Philippine National Police.
This is also in preparation for the May 2022 elections, Balmaceda said.
“Baka itong mga tao na may baril gagamitin ng mga politiko na goons. Ngayon pa lang nagsimula na tayong mag-operate against them,” he added./PN
