MANILA – Cignal HD Spikers stretched its unbeaten run in the 2019 Philippine Superliga Invitational via a 25-14, 25-14, 22-25, 25-18 win over Marinerang Pilipina Lady Skippers at the Bacoor Strike Gym in Bacoor, Cavite.
Rachel Anne Daquis anchored the offense while Alohi Robins-Hardy displayed her all-around game on Tuesday.
The HD Spikers remained on top of Group A with an unblemished 4-0 slate.
Daquis finished with 17 points on 11 attacks, five service aces and a block while Robins-Hardy tallied 11 excellent sets on top of 11 points off eight attacks, two blocks and an ace with 12 digs.
Mylene Paat chipped in 10 points while Janine Navarro and Ranya Musa added eight and seven markers, respectively.
The HD Spikers is now a win shy of
bagging a semifinal berth.
“I’m happy. My players are very eager to win each game. These victories are the
results of our hard training,” Cignal coach Edgar Barroga said. “Although they
played relaxed in the third set, they still worked their way back into the
game.”
For the Lady Skippers which bowed out of semifinals contention with its 0-4 slate, Seth Rodriguez who waxed hot in the third set upset fired 12 points while Floremel Rodriguez and Ivy Remulla added eight markers apiece.
Defending champion F2 Logistics Cargo Movers carved out a 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 sweep over Foton Tornadoes.
Victorinara Galang tallied 14 points as the Cargo Movers improved to 3-1 slate in Group D.
Meanwhile, Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors pulled off a 14-25, 25-20, 25-23, 20-25, 15-11 escape over Generika-Ayala Lifesavers. Marjana Philips finished with 16 points, while Negrense Christine Joy Soyud had 14 as the Lady Realtors moved up to 2-2./PN
