ILOILO City – A motorcycle crashed against a crossover utility vehicle ferrying Environment secretary Roy Cimatu at around 10:15 a.m. on Monday in Culasi, Antique.

Cimatu was unharmed but two passengers of the motorcycle were hurt, according to Inspector Clark Philip Dinco, officer-in-charge of the Culasi police station.

The Mitsubishi Outlander of Cimatu and the Honda 100 motorcycle (plate number 4876FL) were negotiating the national highway in Barangay Bitadton Sur, Culasi on opposite directions when the crash happened, Dinco said, citing investigation.

Fidel Capillo Jr., 38, was driving the motorcycle ferrying wife Maribel, 35, and son John Dave Fernando, 3. They were residents of Barangay Pitak, Tibiao, Antique, police said.

Maribel and her son sustained minor injuries. A police patrol vehicle brought them to the Culasi District Hospital.

Cimatu simply transferred to another vehicle after the crash.

Si Secretary Cimatu wala naman siyang natamong injury. Lumipat na lang siya ng sasakyan kasi may kailangan siyang asikasuhin,” said Dinco.

Dinco refused to disclose where the Environment secretary was headed./PN
