BACOLOD City – The city government, in cooperation with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), is distributing free water to residents here affected by the supply shortage.
Maria Laarni Pornan, head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), advised residents with no water supplies to contact their respective barangays for proper coordination with the BFP and CDRRMO.
Pornan emphasized that BFP will prioritize responding to calls initiated by barangay officials exclusively.
But, she explained, not all of the fire trucks will be utilized for the distribution since there must be a reserved vehicle and water supply in case of a fire call.
Pornan disclosed that several residents here complain of having no water supply, and even other water sources like rivers and water pumps are now at a very low level and are continuously depleted.
A meeting was held yesterday, March 6, at the Bacolod City Government Center with government officials and representatives of Bacolod City Water District and Prime Water Infrastructure Inc. to determine which barangays are most affected./PN
